Healthy Breakfast - A Good Healthy Start to the Day

One diet tip you may be hearing over and over again is that for your weight loss to be successful and long term, you need to eat a healthy breakfast. Some people are so accustomed to skipping breakfast they may not realize this could be sabotaging their weight loss efforts. When you eat a healthy breakfast, your body will kick on your metabolism. This helps you burn your calories more efficiently, and gives you a small boost of energy. If you don't eat when your rise, your body will try to make up for it with late night binges.

Having a healthy breakfast is not as hard as some people may think. It can be as simple as having a protein drink on your way to work. Skip the donuts and snack cakes, and grab a can of Carnation Instant Breakfast. When putting together a healthy breakfast, you have to read the fine print. Bagels are not as healthy as they may seem to be. Add cream cheese to a bagel, and your plan for a healthy breakfast has just flown out the window. These can top five or six hundred calories a pop.

Watch the Sugary Cereals

Cereal is a great way to have a healthy breakfast without a lot of fuss. What you have to be careful of are cereals that are high in sugar. It is essential that you read the ingredients carefully on any box of cereal you purchase for yourself and for your kids. Kids cereals are especially tricky. Many brands like to advertise that they are healthier, but they should still be avoided. If you start them eating a healthy breakfast at a young age, they will keep the habits with them for life. If they have never tasted the sugary cereals, they won't know what they are missing.

A bowl of healthy cereal with low fat milk, a cup of fruit, and a glass of orange juice is a great healthy breakfast for just about everyone. You can rotate the type of cereal you get, and the type of fruit you eat so you don't get bored with your breakfast. Other options for a healthy breakfast includes oatmeal, dry toast, or fruit salad. No matter what your choice may be, the important thing is that you try to incorporate this healthy meal into your diet regime. You may find that you have more energy and are less likely to crave calorie-rich foods in the evening hours.

Healthy Eating Tips
Snacks are a great way to refuel. Choose snacks from different food groups - a glass of low-fat milk and a few graham crackers, an apple or celery sticks with peanut butter and raisins, or some dry cereal. If you eat smart at other meals, cookies, chips and candy are OK for occasional snacking.
