I believe I took three each day for seven days. It turned out the deer tick was not infected with lyme disease, but I was certainly up for being safe rather than sorry. The key is knowing what to look for.

Typically if you are bitten by a tick that carries the lyme disease virus, a rash will appear around the spot where you were bitten. This rash can spread 5 to eight inches out. It's imperative to seek treatment early on so no permanent damage occurs. However, the rash can take 3 to 30 days to appear after bitten. Once you spot it, get medical assistance.
